Kitchen lighting provides the perfect opportunity to make a statement and can transform an ordinary space into something extra special. Interior designers Becki Owens and Nicole Davis took advantage of this opportunity by choosing these gorgeous modern gold lanterns for this bright and airy kitchen. Mixing different finishes gives the space more interest by not being too matchy matchy, which also allows the gold lanterns to really stand out. This stunning kitchen designed by Fawn Galli is confirmation that glamour & functionality aren’t mutually exclusive. The pops of copper accents,  lion’s paw island feet, and faux fur stools add glamour and a bit of whimsy to the space, while the built-in island butcher block makes meal prepping more efficient. When you are working with one large open room as your main living area like in this 1930s Church-Home Transformation, you are forced to create your own spaces. HSH interiors did this very cleverly by adding a floating wall and island that adds interest and depth to the kitchen space. This also allowed for more room for cabinetry and ample storage space lining the three outer walls. The brass hardware, black satin granite countertops, and coordinating lighting and island stools, make for the perfect finishing touches.

With its modern cabinetry and fully-clad marble island and counter-to-ceiling backsplash, this stunning kitchen designed by Jen Talbot makes quite a statement. The warm reddish-brown wood cabinetry provides a beautiful contrast against the mostly white space and the U-shaped counters nicely separate the living and dining spaces without blocking views to each room. The kitchen in this San Francisco Apartment is Scandinavian style design at its best featuring modern clean lines and organic materials. The owner wanted the stove to be in front of the window and since there wasn’t enough room in the ceiling for an overhead vent, designer Courtney Trump of LÜFT Design decided to add a brushed stainless suspension hood. It allows the light to shine through and adds a decorative element to the space.

CUSTOM ISLANDS

This two-tiered kitchen island is not only a great space for meal prep, but also serves as the perfect spot for family meals. Interior designer, Mandie Wright of Tailored Space Interiors used french oak flooring and attached it to a pre-existing Smartstone island in her home kitchen. Copper pendant lights and a copper-tinted backsplash add striking finishing touches to the space. Check out the rest of Mandie’s beautiful family home South Wales.

Adding a pop of color to your kitchen by way of cabinetry can make a beautiful statement like these grayish green cabinets in this Deer Valley, Utah home designed by Massucco Warner Miller Interior Design and Decoration. A word of advice – make sure you really love the color you choose because changing cabinetry can be either expensive or very tedious.

Even though all white kitchens are the new rave, adding some contrast with a different color island can add visual interest to the space. This beautiful gray island really stands out in this Modern Farmhouse’s nearly all white kitchen designed by Architect Lauren Goldman of l’or0 design and interior designer Jeanne Moeschler of jm.ID, and it brings out the gray in the marble backsplash.

This kitchen is proof that small spaces can make a big impact! When your living space is only 540 square feet like in this contemporary condo designed by Toronto Interior Design Group, every design decision counts. The storage savvy cabinetry adds functionality while the modern mantis chandelier and blueish gray marble countertops and backsplash make a big impact. Ghost counter stools provide additional seating without crowding the small space.

You could really channel your inner “master chef” when cooking in this gorgeous kitchen! The expansive countertops provide ample room to spread out whilst meal prepping. Duet Design Group opened up the kitchen to the living space and added warmth to the white cabinetry with reclaimed wood flooring and custom exposed wood beams in this Denver home renovation.
